雅思高分作文:教育带给我们什么

What can education bring us? Is “high mark” the real destiny of education? As researchers and scholars are investigating this subject, the accurate definition of education begins to have slight difference from what was in people‘s mind before. Education, the bridge between teachers and students, the mediator between individual and society, means more than knowledge transmit, but being a wholly developed person in the society. First, education brings us basic knowledge and skill to survive. From primary school on, students learn subjects like Maths, Physics, English, or in other words, academic subjects to gain the initial knowledge of the nature and world, which are extremely useful for our future career. Upon this, students also learn skills like sewing, cooking, and mending bicycles, which help them a lot in their future family life. To this extend, education provided us with fundamental concepts of living. Second, education can cultivate our sentiment. Apart from academic subjects, art subjects such as music and art seems more interesting toward students. From these subjects, one can enjoy the pleasure of listening to music, try to guess a composer‘s emotion when writing a music chapter, or understand the meaning of a piece of drawing, from which process they themselves are edified and assimilated, and finally have their own clear opinion on what is beauty. Third, education makes an individual adapted to the society. Being innocent and naive, young people always find it hard to immerge into the complicated environment, and feel frustrated. Through education like communication skills, students may know the essence of getting on with other people. This kind of education influences our personality and views everyone as a whole individual in the big family of society. Above all, knowledge, emotion, and personality form the most important part of the content of education. The aim of education is to teach a per son become a completely developed individual.

雅思高分作文:职业选择

Parents generally believe it is their responsibility to plan the careers for their children. They claim that they know their children well enough to decide what kind of job suits them. Hoping that their children will go in for professions that will bring them the greatest prestige and economic benefit, many parents think that their children are too young to see this for themselves. There are some parents who even expect their children to take over the careers of their fathers. For these reasons, many parents insist that their children should obey them in choosing careers. But many children suggest that they should be left free to choose their own careers. For one thing, parents and children may not share the same interest. A job that appeals is likely to be boring for their children. For another, children have been brought up in a different age from their parents’, and therefore, should be allowed to cultivate a spirit of independence and self-reliance. In short, children should be free to make their own decisions as to future careers. In my opinion, in this case as in many other things, mutual understanding is important. On the one hand, parents’ view does reflect their concern for the well-being of their children. On the other hand, after all it is the children who will be doing the jobs. Therefore, it will be wise for parents to give them this freedom while for the children they should consult their parents when it is necessary. (249 words).

Some people think governments should introduce laws assessing what nutrition and food choices to improve public health. Others think it is wrong. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.有些人认为政府应该颁布法律规定选择何种营养或者食物有利于健康,而另一些人不这么认为。请讨论双方的观点并给出你自己的观点。

Some people think governments should introduce laws assessing what nutrition and food choices to improve public health. Others think it is wrong. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. Food is the paramount necessity of people. However, in recent years, we are appalled by the frequent outbreak of such incidents as milk powder adulterated with melamine, lean meat powder and a spate of food contamination cases. In response, a growing number of people call for the government to take decisive actions to tackle food safety hazards by introducing laws assessing food nutrition. People in favor of such practice believe that customers have the right to find out everything about the food to make sure that what they eat is safe. If this information is transparent, then customers can feel free to choose the food they like without worring that this food can be harmful to their health. Besides, by keeping the information about the nutrition of food transparent, it can also discourage food producers from behaving irresponsibly for the food they make since it puts them under the scrutiny of customers. By this means, food producers will be more careful about the materials they add into the food. Nevertheless, some people hold opposite views, believing that releasing such laws fails to solve the food safety issues at its core. They maintain that this law can only result in food producers fabricating their nutrition labels instead of truly reflecting ingredients in their food. What's worse, this cosmetic work can lead to the dereliction of duty by government officials since they may loosen their monitoring on the food with such nutrition labels. In my opinion, it is necessary to issue laws assessing food nutrition since they can hold food producers accountable for what they make by putting them under the scrutiny of customers. However, releasing the law does not mean that law enforcement officials can sit back and relax. Without those people's efforts, laws can only be a piece of paper, having no actual effect. Therefore, it takes both the law and people's action in implementing the law to deliver tangible results in our efforts to ensure food safety.

Many people use their own cars rather than public transport, so it is up to the government to encourage people to use buses and trains instead. Do you agree or disagree to this statement?很多人使用自己的私家车超过使用公交,因此政府应该鼓励人们使用公交和火车。你在何种程度上同意或者不同意这个观点?

The municipality ought to make it not only easier for people to use public transport but also make it more difficult for them to use their own cars. The answer is an up-to-date mass-transit system, which is expected to 'kill two birds with one stone,' so to speak. If everything goes well, the two big problems facing cities today-air pollution and traffic congestion--would be reduced to large extent. There are several benefits to encouraging drivers to adopt other transport options. That is why, in cities with frequent traffic congestion, individuals often choose subway, light rail or bus service. These options can lower the traffic frequency on the roads, and relieve people of the stress associated with driving in heavy traffic. But, first thing first, it is up to the government to improve such infrastructure facilities as contributing to a rapid transport framework. Without an efficient system, it is hardly possible for drivers to consider leaving their cars in the garages. The logic is obvious: people need to move around rapidly, so if public transport proves to be time-saving, they would refrain from using their cars. A modern mass-transit network has less of an environmental impact, apart from the advantage of reducing traffic congestion. The excessive use of private cars is often a health problem due to air pollution. Usually, that part of the city which has the worst congested traffic has the most notorious air pollution. This being the case, a huge sum of money should be spent on mass transit projects on a long-term basis. Before that, the government should take measures to control traffic flow by limiting non-essential driving in cities, if only for better air quality. As to how air pollution may cause climate to change because of the greenhouse effects is another story. All in all, it is imperative for the government to solve the dual-problem of traffic congestion and air pollution through the single strategy of creating a mass transit system that can meet people's aspirations. Therefore, the question is not why but how. The government has the option; so do car owners.

People living in big cities face problems; government should encourage people to move to small towns. What are these problems? Do you agree government should encourage people to move to small towns?生活在大城市的人面临许多问题,政府应该鼓励人们搬到小城镇。请问这些问题是什么?你认为政府应该鼓励人们搬去小城镇吗?

People who want a modern life style, with a focus on luxury, convenience and accessibility, will choose city life. Advanced technological appliances to better job opportunities, better wages and extensive product ranges are some of the attractions of city life. But nowadays people living in big cities face a variety of issues. Some citizens advocate that government should encourage people to move to small towns as population density in cities increases, it leads to overcrowding. In 2007 the United Nations estimated the total world population at 6.6 billion were living in urban areas. Roughly 80 percent of the U.S. population, for example, lives in urban areas. This happens because the demand for housing is more than the supply of housing. Moreover, increased movement of people from rural to urban areas puts a strain on the city's infrastracfture. As more people join the commuter rush each day, roads and freeways become crowded. New construction adds to the chaos as it struggles to keep up with demand. Ambulances and emergency vehicles sometimes find it hard to navigate the bumper-to-bumper traffic during rush hours. This can put seriously ill or injured people's lives at risk. However, from the point of my view, cities have many benefits over villages for them. As a matter of fact, children growing up in small towns do not have as much access to education as children in cities. What's more, villages may not have enough children to create a school that goes all the way through high school. Cities on the other hand have multiple forms of education such as colleges and universities. Libraries and museums are available in cities. Meanwhile, entertainment is readily accessible in cities in the form of movie theaters, amusement parks and restaurants. More importantly, living in the city provides people with thousands of career choices. Encouraging people to move to small towns is totally an unwise suggestion. Governments can further encourage the trend by funding education projects and ways to inform the populace about the costs of raising more than a set number of children. By using the carrot instead of the stick, people will be more inclined to choose to have smaller families.
