Product placement is to be allowed on British television programs for the first time, local media reveals Sunday.
在上面的报道中，product placement就是"植入式广告"，指将产品或品牌及其代表性的视觉符号策略性融入电影、电视剧或电视节目内容之中，通过场景的再现，让观众留下对产品及品牌的印象，达到营销目的。
Placement在这里的意思是"放置"，例如：the placement of furniture(家具的布置)。另外，placement还有"(人员的)安插，工作安排"的意思，例如：a placement office(安置办公室);a social agency that does the work of child placement(从事儿童安置工作的社会机构)。Placement还可以表示"(学生的)编班"，placement test指"(学生入学时的)编班测试"。
"植入式广告"属于隐性广告(recessive advertisement)，也是软广告(blind advertising)的重要分支之一。生活中除了我们常见的电视广告(television advertisement)，还有网络广告(online advertisement)，报纸上还有分类广告。

随着经济不断紧缩，越来越多在中国居住的外籍人士把在家教育作为应对学费持续上涨的办法。
在上面的报道中，home schooling就是"在家教育"，是指父母让孩子不去学校，在家接受教育的教学方式。相对home schooling来说，在学校接受教育就是formal schooling，一般在学校上学就属于"常规教育"(regular schooling)。现在中国实行的是"义务教育"，目标是为了实现普及教育(universal schooling)。一般在义务教育阶段采取的都是"全日制教育"(full-time schooling)，义务教育阶段包括小学教育(elementary schooling)和中学教育(secondary schooling)。Schooling在这里的意思是"教育"，说一个人文化水平较低，没读过几年书，我们可以说a man with less schooling。
Schooling除了有"教育"的意思，还有"学费，学校膳宿费"的意思。

该文件在薪资结构和支付、职务消费以及薪资的监督和管理上制定了指导方针，目的是为了建立健全规范国有企业高管薪酬的激励和约束机制。
在上面的报道中，position-related consumption就是"职务消费"。职务消费是指为保证领导干部正当生活和履行职责、完成工作任务，由政府和领导干部所在机关(单位)按照规定，为其提供和报销的费用。一段时间内很盛行的recreational activities with public funds(公款吃喝)现象其实就是职务消费被滥用的结果。
Consumption除了表示"消费"外，还可以指"消耗"的意思，例如：the consumption of men in a war(战争中兵力的消耗)。Consumption也有"挥霍"的意思，例如：be reproached for one's indiscriminate consumption of a fortune。Consumption还有"吃，喝"的意思，例如：take along food for one's consumption on a trip(带上旅途中吃的食物)。
从职务消费我们可以联想到一些官场和职场中的不良现象，如滥用职权(abuse of power)，渎职(dereliction of duty)，徇私舞弊，玩忽职守(neglect of duty)等。
