chew作动词,有“回味、体味、玩味某事物，深思某事物，谈论某事（常以抱怨的方式），发牢骚，唠叨，拌嘴”等意思，短语chew the fat是俚语，意思是“闲扯，闲聊”。

【对话】

A:The teacher was too hard on his students, especially on the boys.

A：老师对学生要求太严了，尤其对男生。
