【跟外教学地道英语】“办公室聊天开场白”发音精讲

之前我们跟着Alison老师一起学习了地道的“办公室聊天开场白”(不记得的同学点此来看吧>>),大家有认真朗读吗?有没有觉得自己存在哪些发音问题?有些错误可能属于个别同学,有些则是大家的共病。这里Alison把大家共同的问题拿出来做了一个总结,快看看你是不是也犯了呢?

【共通发音问题讲解】

1. The "w" sound in the phrase "How are you"(How are you中的w音)

W这个音要发得有力和清楚。练习的时候尽量说慢一点,想象有个苹果在你口中。开口圆润、最后闭口。

2. The "th" sound in the word "this"(This中的th音)

This中的th音,同thanks或者thick中的th音是不同的。大家应该把舌头轻咬在上下齿之间来发音。如果念得正确,应该可以感觉到舌头的轻微震动哦。

3. Long vowel sounds(长元音)

最后,是"need", "great", "tired", "looking" 这些单词中的长元音。发这些长元音时要有意识将其拖长,从而突出这个音。

有同学要问了,looking这个单词音标标注的不是短元音吗,为什么也归在其中?来看Alison老师怎么说:

The word "look" is sometimes classified as a "short vowel" because the "oo" sounds different in words like "spook". However, the word "looking" needs a stronger emphasis and an extension of the vowel.(look这个单词有时被归为短元音,因为其中的"oo"与spook等单词中的"oo"听上去是不一样的,但是要注意looking这个词中的元音需要被强调并且拉长。)

大家要记住Alison老师的这些提点,在以后练习时多加注意,继续加油吧!

【音频讲解】

Hi! I want to talk about some common problems I noticed in listening to your recordings. I will discuss three pronunciation problems for you to practice. They are:

• The "w" sound in the phrase "How are you"
• The "th" sound in the word "this"
• Long vowel sounds

The "w" sound in the word "how" needs to be strong and clear. "w"…"How"…"w"…"How"…To practice, try saying the word very slowly and emphasizing the "w" sound: "How are you". It might also be helpful to imagine you're putting an entire apple into your mouth. You need a lot of space to pronounce the "ow" sound, and then the mouth comes to a close.

The "th" sound in "this" is different from the "th" sound in the words "thanks" and "thick". To make the "th" sound in "this", you need to stick your tongue out between your top and bottom rows of teeth and force air through to make a vibration. If you say the word "this" correctly, you should feel vibrations on your tongue.

Finally, long vowel sounds occur in words like "need", "great", "tired" and "looking". A long vowel sound needs to be longer and extended so that the sound is emphasized. Practice exaggerating long vowel sounds to get more comfortable with extending the sound.

Well that's all for this lesson, and remember to use these suggestions in future exercises. Nice work.
