【情景对话】

A: can you have the briefs from the Anderson Firm's lawyer on my desk by tomorrow morning? There are quite a few very ___①___ matters with this case. I am afraid I can't wait any longer.

A:明天早晨之前你能把安德森公司律师的辩护状放在我办公桌上吗？这个案子在时间上有些棘手。恐怕我不能再等了。

B: getting those Anderson briefs has been harder than you can imagine. I have tried to contact their lawyer many times, but every time I call, his secretary says he's in a meeting or out of the office, or away on business. I am beginning to think he's trying to avoid me.

B: how do I find Martin's fax number? Is he in your rolodex?

B:我怎么才能找到马丁的传真号？在你的罗拉代克斯卡上吗？

A: no, but you can also call their office and ask the secretary to give you their fax number. I'll email you their office number later today.

A:没有，不过你还可以给他们办公室打电话，让秘书告诉你传真号。 今天稍晚一点儿我把他们办公室的号码发邮件给你。

B: Okay, I'll get on it first thing.
