armed to teeth

Eg soldiers were armed to the teeth and ready to fight.

Eg were armed to the teeth, ready for any emergency.

Eg were quite unarmed, but their determined onslaught made them more terrifying than if they had been armed to the teeth.

Eg whole nation took up arms to defend their country, although the enemy were armed to the teeth.
