你会说"爽约"吗? 跟学口语
大家都知道,stand up是站起来的意思,但如果加上一个someone,含义就变成了"爽约":
A: I'm sorry for being late. The bus was stuck in a traffic jam for half an hour.
不好意思我迟到了,公车堵了半小时.
B: Well, I was afraid you would stand me up.
我都担心你会放我鸽子呢.
如果一个人老是放别人鸽子那肯定是很讨人厌的了.
要表示"失约",还有另外一个说法,就是 break an appointment,不过这是表示"失约date"以外的约会,例如:
You'd better not break your appointment with the lawyer.
