The Story between Me and Books

When I was about three years old, my parents would read me some fairy tales before I slept. I felt in love with novels and I couldn’t sleep if my parents missed this part. Thanks to my parents, books have been the indispensable part of my life. They bring me great joy and open the new chapter of my life.

The value of books are infinite. Some people educate their children to study well and learn more knowledge, so as to make more money when they grow up. But my parents never expect me to make money by learning knowledge, they just want me to enjoy the knowledge. The more I read, the greater joy I get from the books, which show me a bigger world by presenting the diversity of the scenery.

Reading books also brings me some skills to solve problems from life. For example, I know how to deal the relationship from other people’s experiences, or when I am in blue mood, I know the ways to adjust myself and be positive to life. The books gives me strength.

The Story of Growing Up

When a couple gets married, it is natural for them to receive wishes from relatives and friends. Recently, a young couple showed the message of their coming wedding, but the public criticized the man, because they believed he was committing crime as he fell in love with a girl when she was 8 years old.

The man and the little girl’s story seems to be romantic. But thinking of the girl’s young age when they met, and she was just a little girl, it is unbelievable. Though now she is almost 18, their story worries so many parents. They are so afraid of the negative information releases to the young children, when they don’t know the concept of love. From 8 to 18, the girl’s growing period is accompanied by this man who is much older than her, while I don’t favor of this way.

The girl was misled by the wrong conception. Someone told her when she was 18, they would be married. As she is young and innocent, even she is 18, she doesn’t have much chance to see the variety of the world. The way she sees the world is misled by this elder man.

A child’s growing up should be natural and led by the right value.

As a rookie(新手) in the Atlantic City Police department, I was assigned(指派) to walk around the streets. Everyday I meet some children who had become separated from(分离) his parents or lost their way.

One afternoon, I saw a small boy standing alone, obviously(显然地) lost. I tried to gain his confidence(信任) - I took him to the nearest ice-cream shop and bought him a box of ice cream. But for a long time the boy's parents didn't come up. So I want to call for a patrol car to take him to police station. I told the small boy to stay while I went to the call box. When I returned, he was not there.

Within minutes, the car arrived, and one of the policemen asked me where the child was. I felt stupid; it's humiliating(丢人的) to say you've lost a lost child. But I told the officers what had happened and gave a description(描述) of the boy. "What did you treat him?" asked one of the men.

"A box of ice-cream. Why?"

"Because," answered the officer, "that kid lives only a few blocks(节区) from here, and you are the fifth one to buy him ice-cream!"
