  关于交通拥堵的高一英语作文篇1

With the development of urban economy, traffic jams is becoming increasingly serious in metropolis like Beijing and Shanghai etc. Poor connectivity and overcrowding of public transport is one reason why it is raising public awareness of traffic jams. Reasons range from urban design to dense population. Take Beijing for example. The main reason is rooted in that city plan can not adapt to the development of urbanization. On one hand, due to the main resources amassed in Beijing center, massive crowds flock there for potential jobs, causing congestion(拥堵). On the other hand, many people are forced to live in suburbs because of high living cost and high housing prices, thus people have to commute from home to work by car or public transport, causing much of the traffic jam in the city. To better the traffic jams, I suggest government departments and enterprises in Beijing introduce flexible working hours. And the local governments, public institutions and state-owned enterprises are advised to hold videoconferences or meetings over the phone.

As we grow up, we can see more and more cars come into our sights. And still there is a big prsoblem following it comes us-- the traffic jam. We are suffering it everyday in the rush hours, when people get to work or school in the morning or go home from them, especially in the cities which have no subways.

Then what cause these traffic jams? There are three reasons as follow.

First, the population of the car owners has grown up sharply. Our life gets better, and people have the ability to buy cars. It's not only a tool which instead our feet, but also becomes a sign that the owners are living a superior life. And the inport market has a drastic competition so the prices, in fact, have been lower down. So as more and more people can afford the cars, the number of the cars increased a lot.

Second, the roads. The roads in a city, especially in a small one, are not for cars in the past Beijing Hutong and other old streets, they are for people walking or even some riders or rickshaws. The streets or roads are not wide enough for the cars to run on, let alone two or three or even more raws. And if the government wants to rebuild the roads, it also has a problem, that both sides of the roads or streets have the living-buildings to stand on. How can a bottle be filled with more than it can contain?

The third is about the citizens' qualities and the traffic signs. In some small cities, even county, especially some little cities with tough roads, the traffic signs are pretty important. But some have not that much, so when the owners want to go past the cross-roads,which have no signs, they all want to be the first. And the cars behind them want to follow, them the traffic jam comes.

So if we want to defeat this traffic problem, there are still a lot of things that we should do.

How horrible the traffic is! The picture depicts a scenario of a terrible traffic jam in the street. In fact, the traffic jam is so heavy that it is more of a parking lot than a crowded street. Anxious passengers cannot take buses because there are few buses. Instead, the street is filled with too many private cars。

Exaggerated as it is, the phenomenon is not uncommon nowadays. With the number of private cars increasing, traffic jams in metropolitans are bound to happen. Heavy transportation pressure in large cities may bring much inconvenience to people and exert negative impacts on the environment. On the one hand, when traffic jam happens, short distance in the past now seems to become terribly long, and drivers could do nothing but to wait. Therefore, a lot of precious time has been wasted on the road. On the other hand, exhausted gas emitted by cars has increased the burden of environment and caused carbon emission, which has diverted from the concept of living a low carbon life.

Therefore, effective measures should be taken to alleviate the traffic jam. Firstly, taxes levied on the sales of private cars should be raised so as to restrict private car ownership rate. Secondly, public transportation such as buses and subways, which are low-carbon transportation means, should be encouraged and promoted so that we can have a smooth transportation.
