shade/ shadow 阴和影的区别

shade 都是指有东西挡住了太阳光，而形成了一片阴凉的地方。这里不能用 shadow 来替代。

shade 做为名词时还有一个意思是指灯罩、太阳镜，墨镜也可以被称为 shades（复数形式），非常口语化的表达。

月光把我的影子投射在墙上。

devote有关的2个用法：

① devote sth to (doing) sth 把时间(钱，精力等)献给某事物。

He devoted all his free time to playing the piano. 他把所有的业余的时间都用来弹钢琴。

Is it something like... maybe we need to devote some time to? 或许我们应该花些时间在上面？

② devote oneself to sb (doing sth)

After he graduated he continued to devote himself to research. 毕业之后他继续致力于研究工作。

Better that I devote myself to study...我还不如专心搞研究。（此处study为名词，表“研究”）
