chin作名词，本义是“下巴"。习语keep one’s chin up与人的“低头”和“昂头”有关。 我们知道，当人的心情处于低落状态时,人常常将头低下去，而高兴时就自然会把头抬起来。由此看来,keep one’s chin up就是把头抬起来，这也就无疑是喻指“不要气馁”或“不要灰心”。
