To me, Christmas is the joy of getting.

slight 作为形容词adj. 原意为“轻微的，少量的”，the slightest idea就是说一点点想法，至少一点点的理解。常与否定“not”搭配，表示“一点儿也不明白，丝毫不能理解”。

Sally: I’m making out my Christmas list. Now, how do you spell your name?

Sally：我在列我的圣诞清单。现在，你的名字要怎么拼？

Charlie Brown: I’m your brother and you don’t even know how to spell my name?

Sally: I’ll put down “Sam”. I know how to spell that.

Sally: What was his name again?

Sally：再说一下他名字叫什么来着？

Charlie Brown: Santa Claus.

Charlie Brown：圣诞老人。

Sally: Any middle initial?

Sally：有中间名缩写吗？

Charlie Brown: No, I don’t think so. At least I’ve never heard of one.

Sally: How about his wife? Do you know her name?

Sally：那他的太太呢？你知道她的名字吗？

Charlie Brown: Well, sometimes you hear people say her name is Mary Christmas.

Charlie Brown：嗯？有时候你会听到人们说她的名字是Mary Christmas（因为与Merry Christmas发音相似）。

Sally: Really? That’s very interesting. Maybe I’ll write to her instead.
