1. 你的会计方式太过时了。

【原句】Your accounting methods are far behind the times.
【解说】behind the times 过时，落伍，跟不上时代；相当于old fashioned / out of date

2. 我打电话来只是想告诉你我爱你，而且我是认真的。

【原句】I just call to say I love you, and I mean it.
【解说】I mean it. 这句话表示“我是认真的”，强调我真的是这个意思，并不是开玩笑。也可以说：I mean business.

3. 约翰带上雨伞以防万一。

【原句】John took his umbrella to be on the safe side.
【解说】to be on the safe side的意思是to be safe; to be cautious; to be very well prepared，也就是“为了保险起见，以防万一”。

4. 说来话长，我下次告诉你。

【原句】It's a long story and I'll tell you some other time.
【解说】It's a long story. 这是个很长的故事，就是指“说来话长，一言难尽”。如果有人约你出去而你恰好没空，就可以说" Maybe some other time." 意思是“改天吧，下次吧”。

5. 简而言之，你被解雇了！

【原句】To put it in a nutshell: you are fired!
【解说】put sth. in a nutshell 简要地陈述某事，简而言之

6. 我想不通为什么医保改革不得人心。

【原句】I can't imagine why health care reform is unpopular.
【解说】I can't imagine why... 我想不通为什么……，这是一个很常用的口语句式。

7. 你该理发了。

【原句】It's about time you had your hair cut.
【解说】It's about time... 该是……的时候了，也可以说"It is high time"。注意后面的句子中的动词要用虚拟语气。
