在口语中，经常听到人们给出建议，这种建议一般都是口头话的，那么用英语如何表达呢？“Word of advice”最好不过了，意思是“给你一个建议”：

Well, word of advice, don't spend hours chatting on the internet during nights. 好，给你一个建议，晚上不要老是在网上聊天。

Well, word of advice, don't speak when you're eating. 给你一个建议，吃饭时不要说话。

Well, word of advice, get up earlier to do some morning exercises. 给你一个建议，早晨早起一些做晨练。

现在来介绍在英语中表达“不是一般的……”的用法，我们可以用”more than” 后面放上形容词或副词来表达：

You're more than stupid. 你太傻了/你不是一般的傻。

This idea sounds more than terrific! 这个点子听上去太好了!

Life is becoming more than expensive. 生活变得不是一般的昂贵。

This dress looks more than decent. 这件裙子看上去不是一般的体面。

Summer in Guangzhou is more than hot. 广州的夏天太热了。

“more or less”也是一个很实用的词组：意思是“或多或少，多少有点”，“差不多”, “几乎”：

I've more or less finished reading the book. 我差不多已经把这本书全看完了。

It took more or less a whole day to paint the ceiling. 粉刷天花板用了将近一整天的时间。

It's an hour's journey, more or less. 这差不多是一小时的车程。
