You're getting on my nerves.你又开始做让我心烦的事了。

Nerve:神经;Get on my nerves:触动我的神经,让我心烦。这句话比较口语化,用途很广,既可以在真生气时用,也可以在娇嗔撒娇时用。还可以说You're starting to get on my nerves.

You're really irritating me.你真让我烦哪!

Irritate表示使人心烦,让人着急,使人生气的意思。

Calm down.镇静一些。一般是对精神上处于不安定状态的人说的话。例如:

A:Oh my God! Oh, no! What am I going to do!?哦,天哪!哦,不!我该怎么办呀!?

B:Just calm down.镇静一点!

C:What are you doing? You are driving me crazy!你简直要让我发疯了!

D:Hey, you have to calm down a bit.引申用法:abit:一点;cool down别紧张,冷静点。cool的本意是凉的,在这里的意思是冷静下来。当对方火气很大时,你就可以用cool down来劝免一场舌战。

That's not an ice thing to say.你这样说也太失礼了。当你听到不敬的话语时就可以用这句话来反击。例如:

A:Why are you so stupid?

B:Hey,that’s not an ice thing to say.

引申用法:

Don't over do it.别说得太过分了。

比如有人没礼貌地说:Why are you so fat?你就可以用上面两句予以回击。

Don't get so uptight1.何必当真了呢?用up tight来表示“紧张的”、“焦急的”、“在意的”状态。生活中朋友之间可能会开开玩笑,如果朋友当真了,你就可以说:Hey, don’t get so uptight.表示:别太在意啦,我刚刚只是开玩笑的哦。例如:

A:What? You mean I'm too short?什么?你是说我太矮了?

B:Don't get so uptight.别当真嘛。

引申用法:

Don't get so worked up.放松点儿。

Don't be so stiff.别这么较真儿。

Loosen up.随便点,放轻松。

I didn't mean to hurt you./ I meant no harm.我没有故意伤害你的意思。

另外还能用Kick back!表示放松点儿,悠闲自得地、放松地、舒适地。含有不紧张,精神上放松的语感。Just relax、Take it easy、Just hang loose等都是放松点的意思。例如:

A:Kick back, make yourself at home.随便些,就像在自己家里一样。

B:Thanks. 346. Can't we talk it over?我们就不能好好谈谈吗?

talk over表示“通过相互谈话达到了相互理解”。有人对你凶巴巴地说话时,你可以先用calm down让其冷静下来,然后了解原因的时候,你就可以说:Can’t we talk it over?

例如:

A:It's over. Get out!一切都结束了!给我出去!

B:Can't we talk it over?

引申用法:Let's work it out.我们好好解决这件事吧!这里work out的意思是解决。

Let’s try to get along.我们试着好好相处吧。

Let’s be nice to each other.我们还是以礼相待吧。

Let's forgive and forget!过去的事就让它过去吧。

这里的forgive指原谅,forget指忘记。

引申用法:Let by gones be bygones.谚语,意思是过去的就让它过去吧。

Can't we patch things up?我们就不能和好吗?

用patch up表示平息争吵与不合。还能说:Isn't there any way we can patch things up?就没有什么办法让我们和好吗?

When it comes to living a healthy and confident life, real goal achievement involves much more than good intentions. For example, it is not enough to know you want to eat differently or that you want to lose weight. Motivation can be defined as an impulse to channel energy and action toward a specific goal. This means, 1) you have to know what you want and be passionate1 about it, and, 2) you have to know how to set a goal. Goal setting is a powerful skill to learn because you give yourself a specific direction and you give your energy a precise focus. 要过上健康自信的生活,仅有好的意愿是不行的。例如,光知道你想改变饮食或减肥是不够的。所谓动力就是引导你为一个目标投入精力和行动的冲动。这就是说,1)你得知道自己想要什么,并对此有激情;2)你得知道如何设定目标。设定目标是一种需要学习的重要技巧,因为你得给自己一个明确的方向,为你的精力找一个精确的焦点。(to be continued)
