亲爱的科琳I met my husband in our early 20s when we worked together. We were both very ambitious and loved our jobs, but just after we got married I became pregnant with our daughter.
20多岁的时候，我和丈夫因工作相遇。我们都很有野心、热爱我们的工作，但结婚不久，我怀孕了（女儿）。Our son soon followed and, for six years, I was a stay-at-home mum. I did enjoy it when the kids were little but when they both started school I began to feel bored and restless so I ended up getting in touch with an old colleague who offered me a job.

However, my husband has been really against the idea. He says that he earns a decent enough wage so he can't see why I would want to work. He's also putting lots of barriers in my way. For example, he's saying that he won't be able to take any time off if the kids are off school. He won't help out with the school run, even though he goes to the gym before work and could easily not do that a couple of times a week to take the kids to school.

It's not just about the income for me - although I would like to have my own money again. But it's more the sense of identity that comes with working. I feel lonely sometimes and I miss the banter and companionship and the sense of achievement after a good day. I know it won't be easy but I want to give it a go.

科琳说Because he's incredibly selfish. You've given up a career you love and taken a back seat, work-wise, for six years to be a great mum to your kids. I know exactly how you feel. I also got increasingly bored and lonely in my kitchen every day when my kids were at school so I went out and got a little part-time job in a shop.
