狼似乎不怒也不烦，只是非常冷漠地看着它，任它独自鸣叫。鸟儿发现了狼的无奈，便从石头上飞下，靠近狼叫了起来。鸟儿可能不知道自己的这种举动很危险，狼只要突然一伸爪子就能抓住它，但狼没有那样做。
我等了很长时间，它们之间仍然相安无事。我突然觉得我的担心是多余的，我怎么知道鸟儿在叫声中表达的是什么呢?我只是出于人的心理，在为它们担心，说不定，鸟儿正对狼诉说着一件高兴的事情呢!
从表面看，鸟儿和狼如此近距离地接触，是多么不可思议啊。如果看到这一幕的是一个胆小谨慎的人，他就会为这只鸟儿害怕;如果看到这一幕的是一个胸襟宽阔的人，他也许会发现生命互相映衬的美丽，会看到生命在追求心中的意愿时表现出的勇敢之美。
人生的最高境界，是“取乎其上，适乎其中”的，如果自己面前是一只被拴住的狼，就为它唱歌;如果一只鸟儿飞到自己跟前高兴地唱歌，就耐心地做一名观众，让它感到生命的友好和美丽。
整整一天，一只狼和一只鸟儿就这么相处着。它们组成了一面镜子，凡是看到它们的人都被映照在里面。
