Two hunters hire a small plane to take them to a remote area of Canada. Upon dropping off the hunters, the pilot tells them,“Remember only one moose, because the plane wouldn’t be able to take off with more weight than that.” The hunters go off.
两个猎人租了一架小型飞机去加拿大的一个偏僻地区打猎。要下飞机的时候，飞行员特意嘱咐他们：“千万记住，只允许带一只驼鹿，因为飞机只能承受那么大的重量。”听飞行员说完，两个猎人就打猎去了。
A week later when the plane returns to pick them up, the two hunters are standing by the lake with two moose. The pilot fumes, “I told you guys only one moose. and you’ll have to leave one because we won’t be able to take off with that much weight.”“Oh, come on,” beg the two hunters, “Last year the pilot let us take two moose on, you’re just a chicken.”

Not wanting to be accused of being a coward, the pilot allows the two to bring both moose on the craft. The plane starts across the lake, straining to take off. The pilot tries and tries to no avail and the plane crashes into the trees at the end of the lake. A while later after coming to one of the hunters gets up and looks at all the scattered debris of the wreck and says, “Where are we?” To which the other hunter replies, “Oh, I’d say about a hundred yards farther than last year.”
飞行员害怕被扣上胆小鬼的帽子，于是就勉强同意了。飞机刚刚越过一个湖，就开始逐渐下沉。飞行员使尽浑身解数也未能逃脱劫难，飞机最终坠落在湖边的一片树林里。过了一会儿，一个猎人站了起来，看着飞机的残骸说：“我们这是在哪里?”另—个猎人回答：“哦，我觉得比去年还远了100码呢。”

The Pope meets many old friends and makes several new ones over the next few days. One of these is a former lawyer who invites the Pope over for lunch. On arriving, the Pope is astounded to see a 45-room mansion, with built-in sauna and weight-room, a beautiful library, and spacious, airy rooms.

After lunch, the Pope spies St. Peter on the street and says, “Not to complain, but I’m curious as to why I have a small cottage while the lawyer I just met has a stupendous mansion.”
午饭后，教皇碰巧在街上又看到了圣彼得，便上前问道：“我可不是发牢骚啊!为什么我只能得到一个小别墅，而那个律师却有那么豪华的大厦?”
St. Peter replied, “Well, you see, we have many Popes up here, but only one lawyer.”
圣彼得回答说：“你看，我们这里到处都是教皇，可律师却只有他一个。”
关于英语小故事及翻译：冰上钓鱼A drunk decides to go ice fishing, so he gathers his gear and goes walking around until he finds a big patch of ice. He heads into the center of the ice and begins to saw a hole.

All of a sudden, a loud booming voice comes out of the sky. “You will find no fish under that ice.”

The drunk looks around, but sees no one. He starts sawing again. Once more, the voice speaks, “as I said before, there are no fish under the ice.”
这个酒鬼朝周围看了看，可是没有一个人影。他又继续锯了起来。那个说话人的声音再次响了起来：“我已经说过了，冰的下面没有鱼。”
The drunk looks all around, high and low, but can’t see a single soul. He picks up the saw and tries one more time to finish.
那个酒鬼又向四周从高处到低处看了半天，可还是什么也没有看见。他又拿起锯继续往下锯。
Before he can even start cutting, the huge voice interrupts.“I have warned you three times now. There are no fish!”
他刚要锯冰面的时候，那个巨大的声音喝止他说：“现在，我第三次警告你，这下面没有鱼!”
The drunk is now flustered and somewhat scared, so he asks the voice, “how do you know there are no fish? Are you God trying to warn me?”
酒鬼顿时有些惊慌失措，甚至恐惧起来，于是他问那个声音：“你是如何知道这下面没有鱼的?上帝呀，难道是你在警告我吗?”
“No,” the voice replied. “I am the manager of this hockey rink.”
“不是，”那个声音回答他，“我是冰球场的经理。”
