The first footage of Game of Thrones season eight has been unveiled in a trailer promoting HBO's new 2019 releases.

In the brief clip, Daenerys arrives in Winterfell where she's greeted by Sansa Stark and Jon Snow (Kit Harington).

“Winterfell is yours, your grace,” Sansa says to Daenerys in what will be the first time the pair have shared screen time since the series began in 2011.

The trailer also shows Meryl Streep alongside Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon in the follow-up season to Big Little Lies, which is expected to arrive on screens in March.

It was recently revealed that Game of Thrones would return to HBO and Sky Atlantic in April.

Fans of the fantasy series have since narrowed down the release date to two possible selections, the strongest contender of which is 28 April.

The final episodes, which will showcase the show’s most elaborate battle yet, co-executive producer Bryan Cogman said: “It’s about all of these disparate characters coming together to face a common enemy, dealing with their own past, and defining the person they want to be in the face of certain death.”
