此语出自莎士比亚的《麦克白斯》的笫二幕第二场中麦克白斯的话:“But wherefore could not I pronounce‘ Amen ’? I had most need of blessing, and‘Amen’stuck in my throat. ”(可是我为什么说不出‘阿门’这个词呢?我才是最需要上帝恩惠,可是‘阿门’这词却哽在我的喉头。)
