【场景一】

New year is coming~,大家都没有合适的伴侣共度新年,于是Chandler提议6个人不允许单独活动,而是一起愉快地度过新年,然而他却……

Chandler: Yeah, 'cause I Already asked Janice(估计没有人不认识这位MM吧?).
Monica: What?!
Ross: Come on, this was a pact! This was your pact!
Chandler: I snapped, okay? I couldn't handle the pressure and I snapped.
Monica: Yeah, but Janice? That-that was like the worst breakup in history!
Chandler: I'm not saying it was a good idea, I'm saying I snapped!

【场景二】

新年party在Monica的公寓举行,Ross带着Marcel(那只有着一张白色小脸的可爱猴子)来凑热闹,Monica可是一点儿都不喜欢它...

Ross: Par~~~ty!
Monica: That thing is not coming in here.
Ross: 'That thing'? This is how you greet guests at a party? Let me ask you something, if I showed up here with my new girlfriend, she wouldn't be welcome in your home?
Monica: I'm guessing your new girlfriend wouldn't urinate on my coffee table.
Ross: Okay. He was more embarrassed about that than anyone. Okay? And for him to have the courage to walk back in here like nothing happened...
Monica: Alright. Just keep him away from me.
Ross: Thank you... Come on, Marcel, what do say you and I do a little mingling? (Marcel迅速扔下Ross跑开了) Alright, I'll catch up with you later.

【讲解】

1. pact n. 契约，约定，合同

Chandler:I say this year, no dates,we make a the six of us- dinner.

2. snap—>snapped v. 猛地吸住，突然折断，使劈啪地晌，猛咬； n. 猛咬，突然折断，劈啪声 adj. 突然的

snapshot 快照，也是来源于snap的突然、猛然之意

在这里，snapped字面的意思是“折断了”应理解为“顶不住压力了，无法承受了，改主意了，毁约了”之类的意思。

3. mingle—>mingling v. 混合，结合，交往，往来,与他人一起加入或参加

do a little mingling在这里意思是：融入现场的气氛，加入在场的人的活动中，与大家交流，来往...
