王毅外长会见日本自民党干事长二阶俊博

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Toshihiro Nikai, general secretary of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in Beijing last Thursday, with both sides expressing their satisfaction with the recent improvement in bilateral ties and agreeing to further promote the healthy and stable development of bilateral ties.

上周四，中国外交部长王毅在北京会见了日本执政党自民党干事长二阶俊博，双方对最近两国关系的改善表示满意，并同意进一步推动两国关系健康、稳定地发展。

The Chinese foreign minister said as this year marks 40 years since the historic Peace and Friendship Treaty came into effect, it is an important link between the past and future.

中国外交部长王毅称，今年是历史性的《和平友好条约》生效40周年。该条约是过去和未来的重要联系。

He said both sides should go back to the origin and safeguard the political foundation of Sino-Japanese relations. The two sides should bear in mind the important mission of rebuilding the friendship between the two peoples, and stay true to the mission.

他表示，双方应该回到原点，维护中日关系的政治基础。双方应牢记重建两国人民友谊的重要使命，并坚持这一使命。

He also said China and Japan should review their promises that neither Japan nor China seeks hegemony in the region and jointly oppose the establishment of such hegemony by any other countries.

他还表示，中日两国应该重新审视自己的承诺，即日本和中国都不谋求本地区霸权，共同反对任何国家建立这种霸权。

Wang told Nikai, China and Japan should advance with the times and jointly push forward the construction of the East Asian Economic Community.

王毅告知二阶俊博，中日双方要与时俱进，共同推进东亚经济共同体建设。

Nikai said he hopes the two countries can keep up the momentum in improving relations.

二阶俊博称，希望中日两国可以继续保持改善关系的势头。
