　　双语趣味故事汇一 城市老鼠和农村老鼠

here are two mice. They are friends. One mouse lives in the country, while the other mouse lives in the city.

After several years the country mouse meets the city mouse. He says, “Come and see me at my house in the country.” So the city mouse goes. The city mouse says, “The food is not good. Your house is not good, either. Why do You live in a hold in the field? Come and live in the city with me. You can live in a nice stone house there. You can eat nice food.”

有两只老鼠是朋友。一只老鼠住在农村，另外一只住在城市。

过了几年之后，农村老鼠遇见了城市老鼠。他说：“来看看我在乡下的房子吧。”于是城市老鼠就去了。城市老鼠说：“东西不好吃，你的房子也不好。你为什么住在田野的地洞里呢?跟我到城里去住吧。在那儿你可以住漂亮的石头房子，吃很好的食物。”

So the country mouse goes to the house of the city mouse. It is a very good house. The food is really nice, too. But when they are eating, they hear a great noise. They city mouse cries, “Run! Run! The cat is coming!” they ran away quickly and hid.

After some time they come out. The country mouse says, “I do not like living in the city. I like living in my hole in the field. It is nicer to be poor and happy than to be rich and afraid.”

因此，农村老鼠就去了城市老鼠的家。房子很好，食物也确实很可口。但是正在吃饭的时候，他们听见很大的声音。城市老鼠叫道：“快跑!快跑!猫来了!” 他们飞快的跑开躲藏起来。

过了一段时间他们出来了。农村老鼠说：“我不喜欢住在城市里，我喜欢住在我田野的洞里。贫穷而快乐比富有但担惊受怕要好得多。”

It happened that a dog had some meat that he wanted toeat at home. On his way home he met a river. As he looked down, he saw his shadow in the water。

"Just look!"said he to himself. "That dog down there has some meat, too. If I could get it away from him, I would really eat well tonight!"

With this thought, he made a snap at the other dog's meat. And as he did, his own meat fell into the water. So then he had nothing at all。

Then he saw that the other dog had lost his meat, too。

"That is as it should be!?thought he. "For I saw him trying to take my meat away from me."

By wanting to have everything, he has lost everything he had!

一只狗叼着肉打算回家去吃。在回家的路上他遇到一条河。他朝河里望去，看见水中自己的影子。

“看呐!”他自言自语道。“下面那条狗也衔着肉呢。如果我把他的抢走，今晚上一定可以美餐一顿了!”

这么想着，他就冲那只影子狗咬去，这时候他自己的肉掉进了水里。当然他什么也没有得到。

然后，他看到另一只狗的肉也没了。“活该!”他想，“因为我看到他想从我这里抢走我的肉。”

什么都想要，却失去了原来所拥有的!
