该调查于8月至10月进行，调查对象为资产达150万美元（own at least 1.5 million USD）的中国富人（rich people），目前中国此类人群的数量为134万人。
调查显示，约80万人（60%中国富人）计划在海外投资房产（invest in land property in foreign countries）并移民外国。
胡润百富公司总裁兼首席研究员胡润强调：“今年的趋势正在超出移民范畴，更多与全球资产配置（GlobAl Asset Allocation）有关。中国富人们现在的主要目标（major goal）是在将三分之一财富布局海外（distribute 1/3 of their wealth overseas），购买房产（land-purchase）和国外存款（bank-savings）是优先选择（preferred choices）。”
报告显示，中国富人最普遍的移民（migrate）去向是美国，排名前五的国家还有英国、加拿大、澳大利亚和新加坡。影响富人选择的主要因素（major factors influencing the choice）是教育、投资环境（investment environment）、移民政策（immigration policy）、税收（taxation）、医疗服务（medical condition）、签证要求（visa requirements）和中国移民的适应难度（how hard it is to adapt to the target country）。
