曾几何时，高档写字楼、带隔间的办公室，那可是令人羡慕的白领生活啊。感觉只要坐进那小隔间里，自己的身份便立刻变得高贵了不少。而现在，隔间已经不是什么特别的象征了，甚至有人把它们称为cube farm（隔间农场）。看到这个称呼，是不是高贵的感觉立马消失了呢？

Cube farm refers to a cluster of cubicles in an office. From the top down, they look like a bee nest, hiving productive little workers into their cells. Cube farm（隔间农场）指挤满隔间的办公室。如果从办公室顶部看下去，这些隔间就像蜂窝一样，里面住挤满了忙碌的小工蚁们。

This is the vain attempt to produce privacy in an otherwise open-office layout through the placement of shared partitions in a box-like arrangement around each adjoining work area. 在开放的办公室用盒子那样的隔间来分隔工作区，试图创造一些私人空间，这样的做法其实是徒劳的。 我们的办公室是一个大大的cube farm，每个人都有一个固定的隔间。我们工作的大部分时间都是在那个小小的隔间里面度过的，在那里，我们都是cube jockey。

Cube jockey is an office worker who sits in a cubicle all day and is most likely destined to spend the rest of their career in one. They may spend most of their day surfing the net, playing computer games, or checking personal emails when the boss isn't looking. Cube jockey（隔间老大）指工作时间整天坐在办公室小隔间里的职员，他们余下的职业生涯或许也要在隔间里度过了。老板不在的时候，他们可能大部分时间都在上网、玩游戏或者查看私人邮件。
