Orson 采取了敲诈.

resort to something:to make use of something, especially something bad, as a means of achieving something, often because there is no other possible solution 诉诸;求助于;依靠

They felt obliged to resort to violence. 他们觉得有必要诉诸暴力.

We may have to resort to using untrained staff. 我们也许只能使用未受过训练的员工了.

on hold:delayed until a later time or date 推迟;中断

She put her career on hold to have a baby. 她中断了事业以便生孩子.

occur to somebody:of an idea or a thought 观念或想法 to come into your mind 被想到;出现在头脑中

The idea occurred to him in a dream. 这个主意是他在梦中想到的.

It didn't occur to him that his wife was having an affair. 他没有想到自己的妻子有婚外情.

It didn't occur to her to ask for help. 她没想到请别人帮忙.

get back at somebody informal:to do something bad to somebody who has done something bad to you; to get revenge on somebody 向某人报复

I'll find a way of getting back at him! 我会想法报复他的!

Her mon's in jail, her dad walked out.

她妈妈坐牢,爸爸跑路了.

walk out (on somebody) informal:to suddenly leave somebody that you are having a relationship with and that you have a responsibility for 遗弃,抛弃,舍弃,离开(某人)

How could she walk out on her kids? 她怎么能遗弃自己的孩子呢?

point:a particular time or stage of development 时刻;关头;瞬间;阶段

The climber was at/on the point of death when they found him. 当他们发现那个登山者的时候,他已奄奄一息.

We were on the point of giving up. 我们当时几乎要放弃了.

Many people suffer from mental illness at some point in their lives. 许多人在人生的某个阶段都会得精神病.

We had reached the point when there was no money left. 我们曾落到身无分文的地步.
