潘基文表示任期结束后再考虑是否竞选韩国总统

UN chief Ban Ki-moon left open the possibility of running for the South Korean presidency after his term with the world body ends, local media reported.

据当地媒体报道，联合国秘书长潘基文透露有可能在任期结束后竞选韩国总统。

Ban arrived in his home country earlier for a six-day visit that has fueled speculation he is considering a tilt at its top job.

早些时候，潘基文抵达祖国韩国，进行了为期6天的访问。此行加深了人们对于他正考虑竞选韩国总统的猜测。

"On Jan 1 next year, I will be back as a South Korean," Yonhap quoted Ban as telling journalists in Jeju. "I will contemplate and decide then what I should do as a South Korean citizen and I may ask for your advice if necessary."

韩联社援引潘基文在济州对记者的表述称，"明年1月1日，我将作为一名韩国公民回国。到时我会谨慎考虑，然后决定作为一名韩国公民我应该做什么，必要的话我可能会询问你们的意见。"

But for now, he added, it would be best for him to concentrate on successfully fulfilling his current duties and ending his second five-year term as U.N. chief well.

The former South Korean foreign minister and career diplomat has long been considered a strong contender in the December 2017 presidential election.
