奥巴马农历新年贺词

I send my best wishes to Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, and all who celebrate the Lunar New Year across the United States and around the world.
我谨在此向所有亚籍美国人、太平洋岛国人民以及全美国欢度农历新年的人们表达我最诚挚的祝愿。

As people of all cultures and faiths welcome in the new year, let all of us celebrate our families and our ancestors, and enjoy the company of our loved ones. Across America, in large cities and in small towns, many will mark this occasion with festive celebrations. Many Americans of Asian descent will carry on the rich traditions of their heritage, reminding us again that America’s strength comes from the richness of our cultures and the diversity of our people.
有着不同文化背景和宗教信仰的人们庆祝新年之际，让我们一起追思我们的家族和祖先，和家人一起共度美好时刻。在美国，不论大城小镇，许多人都满怀欢欣准备庆祝新年。有很多亚籍美国人仍然保留着他们文化中的悠久传统，我们的国家也从这种文化多样性中得益良多。

为什么奥巴马不说The Year Of The Rabbit？

奥巴马的这篇祝词很简单，向亚裔美国人民、太平洋岛民以及美国和全世界所有庆祝阴历新年的人们致以最亲切的祝愿。总共只有5句话120个单词，其中并没有直接提到“中国新年”（Chinese New Year），或者“华人”（Chinese），也没有提到“兔年”（Year of Rabbit）。美国人讲究“政治正确”，不提“中国新年”是可以理解的，是因为除了中国以外，在2月3日庆祝新年的还有韩国、朝鲜、越南、新加坡以及其他东南亚、太平洋地区的一些国家。

那么，为什么奥巴马连“兔年”也没有提到呢？这个原因也很简单，因为奥巴马所说的“亚裔美国人民、太平洋岛民以及美国和全世界所有庆祝阴历新年的人们”中虽然都在炮竹声中送走了虎年，但是新年钟声过后迎来的并不都是兔年。在春节前夕，路透社发表了题为“A purr-fect New Year: Vietnam fetes Year of the Cat”的报道，原来在越南今年是猫年，而不是兔年。

也就是这个原因，奥巴马不仅不提“中国新年”，也没有提“兔”年。所以，越南人也可以在报纸上登这样的标题：“奥巴马发表声明祝贺猫年新年向全球越南人表达祝福”、韩国人更可以说“奥巴马发表声明祝贺兔年新年向全球韩国人表达祝福”了。(注：以上讲解来自翟华的博客 东方文化西方语)
