特朗普上任首日美国将退TPP 中国或成最大赢家

US President-elect Donald Trump announced last Monday that he will withdraw the US from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) on his first day in office.

美国当选总统唐纳德·特朗普上周一宣布，上任第一天将让美国退出跨太平洋伙伴关系协定(TPP)。

"I'm going to issue a notification of intent to withdraw from the TPP, a potential disaster for our country," Trump said.

特朗普称："我将发布意在退出TPP的通知，TPP对美国而言是潜在灾难。"

Trump made the remarks in a short video in which he outlined his policy plans for the first 100 days in office.

特朗普在一则介绍其首个百日执政规划的简短视频中发表了上述言论。

"Instead, we'll negotiate fair bilateral trade deals that bring jobs and industry onto American shores, " he added.

他补充说道："我们将协商公平的双边贸易协议以取代TPP，为美国海岸带来就业和产业机会。"

He also touched upon energy, regulation, national security, immigration and ethics reform.

In any zero sum view of the great power game in Asia, the US retreat from TPP is in China's strategic interest, and not just because of the loss of an American-backed trade deal or a pillar of its strategic pivot to Asia.

Put bluntly, can the US still be trusted to come to the rescue of its Asian allies if cowed or threatened by a rising China? Whatever the answer, the fact that American allies are even asking the question is already good news for China.
