南非冷知识：一年一次的海洋奇观，沙丁鱼大迁徙
每年的五月到六月，在南非的开普角都会发生这一奇观，数百万的银色沙丁鱼会像海中飓风一样向温暖的北方迁徙，整个鱼群的规模要用公里来计算。
与这些沙丁鱼同时出现的，还有各种捕食他们的动物，水中的和天上的都有，场面非常壮观。
Between May and July every year millions of small silver fish travel in vast shoals from the cold waters off South Africa’s Cape Point up to the coastlines of the northern Eastern Cape and southern KwaZulu-Natal. This annual event is called the Sardine Run. The shoals are so big – 15km long, 3.5km wide and up to 40m deep – they can be seen by satellite. In their wake come hundreds of birds, sharks, whales, dolphins, all eager to hunt these fish.
每年5月至7月，数百万小银鱼成群结队地从南非开普角附近的寒冷水域游至东开普省北部和纳塔尔夸祖卢南部沿海地带。这一年度活动被称为沙丁鱼赛跑。这些鱼群非常大，长15公里，宽3.5公里，深达40米，而且通过卫星可以观察到。而之后数以百计的鸟类、鲨鱼、鲸鱼、海豚都急切地想要捉到这些鱼。
