Dalian University of Technology(DUT )，founded in April 1949，is one of the state key universities of“Project 211”under the direct leadership of the State Ministry of Education. Having experienced the severe tests of over half a Century and gone through the persistent efforts of several generations，DUT has developed into a comprehensive university of science and technology，with engineering as its main concentration，other disciplines including economics，management，humanities and law.

大连连理工大学1949年4月建校，是教育部直属的全国“211工程”重点大学之一。经过半个多世纪的考验和几代人的坚韧不拔的奋斗，大连理工大学已经发展成以理工为主，经、管、文、法等学科协调发展的综合性理工科大学。

Dalian University of Technology(DUT ) is located in the beautiful coastal city of Dalian，in northeastern China's Liaoning Province. The University covers a total are of 3 million square meters，with the main campus of 2 114 thousand square meters，the city campus of 106 thousands square meters and the campus of 787 thousand square meters in the developing zone respectively.

The library of Dalian University of Technology was established in 1950. Current1y，the library has 46 000 square meters of floor space and a total collection of 2 292 000 volumes，in addition to 17 059 electronic periodicals of different kinds.

DUT comprises graduated college and 19 other colleges，33 schools and departments. The university now has 9 state key disciplines，18 doctorate programs in the first-level disciplines，104 doctorate programs in the second-level disciplines,146 master programs，16 post-doctorate research stations，4 degree programs of MBA，EMBA，MPA，engineering. It has 52 undergraduate majors and 4 majors of double degrees.

学校设有研究生院和19个学院，33个系部〕有9个国家重点学科，18个一级学科博士点、104个二级学利一博士点、146个硕士点、16个博士后科研流动站，还有工商管理硕士(MBA，含〔MBA j、公共管理硕士(MPA )、建筑学、工程硕士四个专业学位授予权以及高校教师在职攻读硕上学位授予权，52个本科专业，4个第二学士学位专业。

DUT has a total enrollment of 28 743 fulltime students，including 2 948 doctorate candidates，7 071 master candidates，18 409 undergraduates and 60 preparatory students. What is more e are also 5 386 postgraduates for discipline degrees，25 ` overseas students，6 327 students of the City College，12 646 students of Continual Education College and 1 700 students who are making advanced study for graduates.

学校全日制在校学生28 743人，包括博士生2 948人，硕士生7 072人，本科生18 408人，预科生60人。另有专业学位教育研究生5 386人，外国留学生255人，独立__二级学院(城市学院)学生6 327，继续教育学院学生12 646人，研究生进修班学生1 700人。

There are 3 2t9 fawlty and staff, including 1 653 fuiltime faculty members，303doctorate supervisors，I34 part-time doctorate supervisors，402 full professors.877 associate professors，10 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and of the Chinese Aeademy of Engineering，11 specially invited professors of “Cheungkong Scholars Program”，3 lecture professors of“Cheungkong ScholarsProgram"，23 recipients of National Outstanding Youth Foundation，7 teachers seleded by national“Millions of Talents program"，15 recipients of Cross Century Talents Foundation under the Ministry of Education，2 teachers awarded the honor of “Outstanding College Lecturers".

学校现有教职工3 219人，其中专任教师1 653人，博士生导师303名，校外兼职博士生导师教授134名，_正高职人员402名，副高职人员877名，中国科学院和中国工程院院士10名，长江学者奖励计划特聘教授11名，讲座教授3名，国家杰出青年基金获得者23名，百千万人才工程国家级人选7人，教育部跨世纪优秀人才基金获得者15名，全国高等学校百名教学名师获得者2人。

With a strong potential in scientific research，DUT has 1 state key training base，4 state key laboratories，1 state engineering research center, 1 state technological center，2 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education，4 provincial key laboratories，8 ministry-level research centers of engineering(technology)，2 state training centers，2 state education and teaching bases and 13 key university iaboratories in the provincial level.

历史变迁

1949 Technical College of Dalian University，the predecessor of Dalian University of Technology，was founded.

1949年建校时为大连大学工学院。

1950 Dalian University was demobilized and its Technical College became Dalian Technical College independently.

1950年大连大学建制撤销，大连大学工学院独立为大连工学院。

1960 It was authorized as a state key university directly under the administration of the Ministry of Education.

1960年成为教育部直属全国重点大学。

1978 It was re-authorized as a state key university directly under the adminis-tration of the Ministry of Education.

1978年被重新确定为教育部直属全国重点大学。

1988 It was renamed Dalian University of Technology.

1988年更名为大连理工大学。
