Jilin University(JLU)is a state key comprehensive university under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education. JLU is one of the first national“Project 211”universities and one of the universities listed in the state“Project 985”for key construction.

吉林大学是教育部直属的一所全国重点综合性大学，是首批进人国家"211工程”建设的高校，2001年被列入“985工程”国家重点建设的大学之一。

JLU is located in Changchun，the capital city of Jilin Province in Northeastern China. JLU campus covers a total area of 6.61 million square meters with 3.4 million square meters of floor space including eight campuse in six University Library has a collection of 5. 51 million books and is designated as the library of UNESCO，UNIDO and World Bank. It also serves as the Comprehensive Information Center of Liberal Arts of the Education Ministry，the only Foreign Scientific Text Book Center in Northeast China，and the National Humanities and Social Science Higher Education Books Import Center. It is one of the seven centers of China Academic Library and Information System(CALIS) Center in Northeast China.

吉林大学坐落在占林省省会长春市，吉林大学校园占地面积661万多平方米，校舍建筑面积近310万平方米，分为6个校区8个校园。学校图书馆各类藏书551万册，已被确定为联合国教科文组织、联合国工业发展组织和世界银行的藏书馆，并目_是教育部人文学科综合信息中心、国家人文社科高等教育图书进日中心。经教育部批准建设在校的CALIS东北地区中心为全国七大中心之一。

The University has a variety of disciplines covering 12 disciplinary areas，including philosophy，economics，law, education，literature，history，science，engiveering，agriculture，medicine，management and military science. JLU offers a variety of degree programs. It has now 129 undergraduate programs，28 programs in the first level disciplines，278 master's degree program，191 doctoral degree programs，and 27 post-doctoral research stations. There are 17 state key disciplines.

吉林大学学科门类齐全，涵盖哲学、经济学、法学、教育学、文学、历史学、理学、工学、农学、医学、管理学、军事学等全部12大学科门类;有本科专业129个，一级学科学位授权点28个，硕士学位授权点278个，博士学位授权点191个，博士后科研流动站27个;有国家重点学科17个。

At present there are 5 937 faculty members，including 1 325 full professors,737 doctorate supervisors，19 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering，2 scientists-in-chief of the state “Project 973”，middle-age experts with outstanding contributions at the national level .l6 special professors of “Cheungkong Scholars Program”，17 recipients of National Outstanding Youth Foundation，2 members of Degree Appraisal Committee of the State Council，17 members of the Subject Assessment Division , Degree Appraisal Committee of the Slate Council，and 2 experts-in-chief of the Central Research and Construction Project of Marxism Theory.

学校师资力量雄厚，有教师5 937人，其中教授1 325人，博士生指导教师737人，中国科学院和中国工程院院士19人，国家“973”项目首席科学家2人，国家有突出贡献的中青年专家14人，教育部“长江学者奖励计划”特聘教授16人，国家杰出青年基金获得者17人，国务院学位委员会委员2人，国务院学位委员会学科评议组成员17人，中央马克思主义理论研究和建设工程项目首席专家2人。

JLU is among the first 22 universities authorized to establish the postgraduate school and has perfected a complete high一}eve! talent education system of undergraduate，master's degree，and doctoral degree. The University has an enrollment of a tcfal of 63 432 full time students，including 19 679 graduated and doctoral degree students，852 overseas students and 15 967 students of adult education.

吉林大学是首批建立研究生院的22所大学之一，现已建立起学士一一硕十—博士完整的高水平人才培养体系。在校全日制学生63 432人，其中博士生、硕士生19 679人，留学生852人，另有成人教育学生15 967人。

the University has 190 laboratories with modern facilities，among them are 6 key research bases for humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education,5 innovation bases for philosophy and social sciences of "Project 985" at the second period,8 innovation platforms for sciences and technology of "Project 985" at the second period，5 state key laboratories，10 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education，and 13 key laboratories of the other ministries and commissions.

学校拥有190个具有现代化研究手段的实验室，其中教育部人文社会科学重点研究基地6个，"985工程”二期建设哲学社会科学创新基地5个，"985工程”二期建设科技创新平台8个，国家重点实验室5个，教育部重点实验室10个，其他部委重点实验室13个。

历史变迁

1946 Northeast Administration Institute，the predecessor of Jilin University，was established.

1946年原吉林大学的前身东北行政学院始建。

1950 It was renamed Northeast People University.

1950年更名为东北人民大学。

1958 It was renamed Jilin University.

1958年更名为吉林大学。

2000 The five universities of former Jilin University，Jilin University of Technology，Bethune Medical University，Changchun University of Science and Technology， and Changchun University of Posts and Telecommunications merged to form a new Jilin University.

2000年原吉林大学、吉林工业大学、白求恩医科大学、长春科技大学、长春邮电学院合并组建成新的吉林大学。

2004 The former PLA University of Munition merged into JLU.

2004年原中国人民解放军军需大学并人吉林大学。
