Huazhong University of Science and Technology(HUST) is a key university directly under the leadership of the Ministry of Education and one of the first group universities listed in the national"Project 211"and"Project 985" is a comprehensive university with multi-disciplines of science，engineering，meditine，art and management and one of the largest and first-rate institutions of higher learning of China.

华中科技大学是国家教育部直属的全国重点大学，是首批列人国家"211工程"重点建设的大学，国家"985工程"建设高校，是涵盖理、工、医、文、管等多学科的综合性大学，是目前国内规模最大、水平一流的高等学府之一。

HUST is located in Hubei Province's capital Wuhan known as"the thoroughfare leading to nine provinces" campus covers an area of over 467 hectares. The university's library of three buildings with advanced facilities has a collection of 3.49 million ranks at the top of China's leading universities in comprehensive strength. In the University，there are eleven faculties including philosophy，economics，law，education，literature，science，engineering，medicine，management，history and agriculture. It offers a variety of programs，including 78 undergraduate programs，248 Master's programs，173 doctoral programs and 22 post doctoral research centers. It has 4 state key laboratories，4 national engineering research centers and 22 key laboratories in the provincial and ministerial level.

华中科技大学位于"九省通衡"的湖北省武汉市，校园总面积467公顷。拥有功能完备的现代化图书馆三座，馆藏图书349万册。华中科技大学学科齐全，结构合理，有哲学、经济学、法学、教育学、文学、理学、工学、医学、管理学、史学、农学等十一大门类。设有本科专业78个，硕士点248个，博士点173个，博士后科研流动站22个。有国家重点实验室4个，国家工程研究中心5个，省部级重点实验室22个。

It has more than 13 000 staff members，including 7 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences，9 academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering，610 doctoral supervisors，1 025 professors and 1 387 associate professors.

现有教职工13 000余人，其中中国科学院院士7人，中国工程院院士9人，博士生导师610人，教授1 025人，副教授1 387人。

The full time students are over 60 000(including students of adult education and on-line education)，of whom over 35 398 are undergraduates 18 884 postgraduates，:}47 students from Hong Kong，Macao，Taiwan regions and foreign countries.

在校学生(含成教生、网络生)60 000余人，其中本科生35 398人，研究生18 884人，外国留学生及港澳台学生547人。

Glorious History

历史变迁

1953 Huazhong Institute of Technology，the predecessor of RUST，was founded.

1953年华中科技大学的前身华中_I}学院建校。

1971 most departments and staff of the former Wuhan Mechanical Institute were merged into Huazhong Institute of Technology.

1971年原武汉大学机械系、电机系等部分并人华中工学院。

1988 Huazhong Institute of Technology was renamed Huazhong University of Seience &Technology.

1988年华中工学院改名为华中理工大学。

2000 A new Huazhong University of Science &Technology，a merger of the former HUST，the former Tongji Medical University，the former Wuhan Urban Construction Institute and the former Wuhan Science&Technology Vocational College，was established.

2000年原华中理工大学、原同济医科大学、原武汉城市建设学院和原科技部干部管理学院合并成立新的华中理工大学。
