继续《王冠》这一主题。伊丽莎白在父亲去世后登上王位，会有怎样的考验等待着这位年轻的女王？剧中经典口语表达第二波。
1. strong people with powerful characters
个性强势的人
Notes: 生活中总是会有比较bossy的人。形容一个人的个性强势，坚定，这里的短语就是个范例。characters在这里不是“人物，角色”，而是“个性，性格”。例如：
Strong people with powerful characters are more naturAl leaders.
个性强势的硬角色更容易成为领导者。
2. We must send a warning to cover our backs.
我们必须发出警报，给自己留下后路。
Notes: cover back这个短语表示“补位防守”,所以”cover our backs”可以理解为“为自己留下后路”。例如：
I think you’d better have a plan B to cover your back.
我觉得你最好有个备选方案以防万一。
3. How you lost the election escapes me.
我不明白你是怎么会落选的。
Notes: “escape”作为及物动词有一个意义是“未被觉察，被遗忘，没有被…注意到”。例如：
How they lost this game escapes me.
我没注意到他们是怎么输掉比赛的。
His name escapes me.
我忘了他的名字。
4. I have an appointment to see my grandmother. I intend to keep that appointment.
我约好了要去探望奶奶就一定会遵守约定。
Notes: 1.“appointment”在这里表示“约定”，“have an appointment”的意思是“有约会，约好了”，“keep the appointment”表示“遵守约定，赴约”。例如：
Do you have an appointment with Mr. Smith?
你和史密斯先生约时间了吗？
If you can’t keep the appointment, please reschedule it with him.
如果你不能赴约，请和她重排时间。
“intend to do something”表示打算/想要做某事。例如：
I intended to stay longer and work smarter.
我决定在这里工作下去，并且要更聪明地展开工作。
5. Name it.
讲出来。

Notes: 如果朋友要跟你认真说某件事情，你打算听她倾诉或者你发现朋友有些事情需要和你沟通但还没开口，你可以直接说“Name it.”，意思是请对方讲出来，还可以加上“All ears.”，表示你很认真的在听。例如：
What’s the matter? Name it. I’m all ears.你怎么了？
告诉我吧。我洗耳恭听。
Ethan is all ears in the meeting.
伊桑在会议上全神贯注。
