   I crossed the street to avoid meeting him, but he saw me and camerunning towards me. It was no use pretending that I had not seen  him, so I waved to him. I never enjoy meeting Nigel Dykes. He never has anything to do. No matter how busy you are, he always insists on coming with you. I had to think of a way of preventing him from following me around all Morning.
‘Hello, Nigel,'I said.‘Fancy meeting you here!'
‘Hi, Elizabeth,'Nigel answered.‘I was just wondering how to spend the morning-until I saw you. You're not busy doing anything, are you?'
‘No, not at all,'I answered.‘I'm going to...'
‘Would you mind my coming with you?'he asked, before I had finished speaking.
‘Not at all,'I lied,‘but I'm going to the dentist.'
‘Then I'll come with you,' he answered.‘There's always plenty to read in the waiting room!'.

我穿过马路以便避开他，但他看到我并朝我跑过来。若再装作没看见他已是没有用了，我只好向他招手。 我就怕遇到奈杰尔·戴克斯。他从来都是无事可做，不管你多忙，他总是坚持要跟你去。我得想办法不让他整个上午缠着我。
"你好，奈杰尔，想不到在这儿见到你。"我说。
"你好，伊丽莎白，"奈杰尔回答说，"我正不知道怎么消磨这一上午呢，正好见到你。你不忙，是吗？"

"我跟你一道去行吗？"没等我说完话他就问道。
"没关系，但我准备去牙医那里。"我说了个谎。
"那我也跟你去，候诊室里总有很多东西可供阅读！"他回答。

第三部分 LANGUAGE POINTS

1、I crossed the street to avoid meeting him.
avoid doing:避开做...

2、It was no use pretending that I had not seenhim...
It is no use doing that...:固定结构（其中的 of可省略），表示"做......也是徒劳的／无益的
it是先行主语，真正的主语是 pretending 引导的动名词短语
Ex
It's no use being much more accurate than that.
It is no use arguing with you.

3．No matter how busy you are, he always insists on coming with you.
no matter （how/when/where/who/what）:引导让步从句，无论....
insist on doing:坚持做...

4、I had to think of a way of preventing him from following me around all morning..
preventing sb. from doing sth.:阻止某人做某事

5、Fancy meeting you here!
用于熟悉的朋友在意外见面的时候打招呼

6、You're not busy doing anything, are you? 
反意疑问句，由陈述句后面加简略疑问句构成。陈述句如果是肯定的，则附加疑问句通常用否定形式；陈述句如果是否定的，则附加的疑问句用肯定形式。陈述句中有助动词时，附加疑问句重复其中的助动词；如果没有，则用do的各种形式构成

He's British, isn't he?
He doesn't speak good English, does he?

第四部分 KEY STRUCTURES AND USAGE

 V.+V-ing

=>I crossed the street to avoid meeting him.
=>I never enjoy meeting Nigel Dykes.
=>Fancy meeting you here！
=>‘Would you mind my coming with you?'he asked, before I had finished speaking.

动词后面只跟名词性的宾语，即只跟名词或动名词：avoid,enjoy,fancy,mind, finish，etc.

其他的例子：
=>He admitted making the mistake.
=>She dreads  getting old.
=>She loathes being asked to parties.
=>I don't anticipate meeting any opposition.
=>Mother suggests having a barbecue party this weekend.
