《小谢尔顿》S1E20追剧笔记：“我不知道”的多样表达
来看《小谢尔顿》第二十集，看他和狗狗的第一次亲密接触。
over your head当然不是越过某人头顶的意思。
它表示因为内容太难或者是太过奇怪，所以无法理解，和can't understand和beyond understanding意思差不多。
比如：
I tried to take in what he was saying about nuclear fusion, but most of it went over my head.
我努力去理解他所说的核聚变，但大部分内容都让我理解不了。
另外，原来“我不知道”还能有这么多说法！码一下吧！
①I have no clue.
Don't ask your father which key to press - he hasn't got a clue about computers.
别问你父亲该按哪个键——他对计算机一窍不通。
②I haven't the faintest idea.
I don't have the faintest idea what you're talking about!
我根本不知道你在说什么！
③How should I know?
"Where's Mikey?" "How should I know? He's hardly ever in the office these days."
“米基在哪儿？”“我怎么会知道？他这些日子几乎都不在办公室。”
④It beats me.
It beats me how she got the job.
我不明白她是怎么得到这份工作的。
⑤Your guess is as good as mine.
"What's he doing?" "Your guess is as good as mine."
“他在干什么啊？”“我也不知道。”
